HISTORY

Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) is a "A" Class Association, which was established at Karachi in the year 1960, with Head office at Karachi. There are two circle offices, i.e. Karachi and Lahore. The circle office of Karachi is called as "Southern Circle" covering the Provinces of Sind and Baluchistan, whereas the Lahore Circle office is called "Northern Circle" covering the Provinces of Punjab and N.W.F.P. The area of operation of the Association is the whole of Pakistan. The affairs of the Association are managed/controlled by Executive Committees consisting of twenty four(24) members, twelve(12) from each circle. The Executive Committee comprises one Chairman, one Vice-Chairman for each circle, and eleven (11) circle Committee members from each circle.The Membership of the Association is granted on written application on prescribed form, Firms desirous of becoming members are duly to be proposed and seconded by two members of the Association. An yearly subscription is to be paid by each Member.
The Association provides guidance to members on all matters concerning their trade of manufacturing and Export of Carpets, and assist them in obtaining visa for travel to other countries for promotion of their export business. The Association also does such other things as may be conducive to the development of the Carpet Industry and incidental to the attainment of the above objectives.
