Experts believe that some form of carpets was produced as far back as 300 B.C. In 1949, the famous Pazyryk carpet was discovered at a Scythian burial site in the Altai region in southern Siberia. This carpet torn in parts is fine example of pile rug both in design a craftsmanship it is believed to have been made around 500 B.C. Research carried out recently proves that the art of wearing was developed by shepherd tribes living in Central Asia.
